Small Islands (2008 – 2017)

Small islands are one of the basic imaginative units in Western thought. For centuries, they have been (mis)used again and again as settings and symbols in literature, film, and television. And almost always they are there as a canvas for mainland imaginations.

This series of landscapes from Fogo Island and Change Islands off the coast of Newfoundland, Vis Island in Croatia and Shetland Islands in Scotland looked at islands as they are exploring human-nature interaction through the built landscapes particular to cultural, ecological, and economic specificities of each island.
